...Working mothers guilt.

Ooh, I knew I was going to be useless at this!
Ok, whatever.

Here is a post on my home and my family.
My son, 1.5 years old, and into EVERYTHING!

He begins the day at the fairly respectable hour of 7am (ish), and from that moment on, is a ball of energy, stopping for a few hours at about lunch time...
He is lovely, and mischievous, and constantly testing the boundaries.  There is a LOT of learning that comes from being a parent.  One of my main struggles is guilt.

I met a friend the other day, who is doing a very similar thing to me in running her own business, and bringing up children.  She hit the nail on the head with a comment on how guilty a working parent feels.
The old story of being self employed, so never really being able to leave work at work means that when you are with your family, you feel the guilt of not working on the business, and when working, there is the guilt of not being with your family. I still don't have the balance quite right, so this will hopefully settle down over time, but at the moment, the process is a wearying one!

My husband and I take turns to look after our son, so we avoid the childcare costs, which are quite hefty when one half of the couple is effectively not earning anything (beginning stages of running a business) and the other half works part time.

On the other hand, we both feel immensely grateful to get to spend such a decent amount of time with our son.

Anyhoo, enough about that.  Here are a few family snaps, and a few photos taken from our bedroom.
Our house is built on a precariously perched section in a suburb of Wellington called Point Howard. Although I live in fear of a landslide or one of Wellingtons famous earthquakes, it does make for a spectacular view.

First

Hello.  This is my introduction into the blog world.  It may not be flashy or extremely interesting, but I will endeavor to be as worthy of attention as possible.

I am owner and designer of a small showroom/ workshop in the middle of Wellington city, New Zealand.
We call ourselves Design In Residence.

We design kitchens, bathrooms, wardrobes, laundries... Anything that involves storage and cabinets, I can design for you.

Alongside this vocation of mine, I choose to clutter my life with a myriad of finds. Chairs for sitting, cabinets for storage, vases for secreting into any possible space. A collection of things that bring me a bit of joy every time I see them.

This is a pass time that irks my nearest and dearest, and for this I apologise.  Perhaps this will be a blog about chairs, perhaps not.

Time will tell, and I suspect it may morph into something entirely different. For now, I will update this blog with images of a few of the finds in my life, and why they improve things for me.

As I said at the beginning of this, I am very VERY new to the process, so I hope to not make too many mistakes at the beginning, but will begin with a few amateur images of life in Wellington.

Thanks
